Getting Started

You can make a creds page in the app or in your browser at creds.id.

In the app

The app is currently called Solid(ar)ity on your home screen.

The first time you open it, the app walks you through five steps:

  1. Welcome. Tap Start. If you already have an identity, tap I already have an account instead. Then choose Sign in with Face ID, Restore from iCloud (iPhone only), or Enter Recovery Phrase (24 words).
  2. Choose a Username. This is your page’s short address: creds.id/@yourname. A name is 3 to 30 lowercase letters or digits. The app checks as you type whether the name is free. See name@creds.id.
  3. Edit on your computer. The app offers to connect a passkey. This step is optional; tap Not Now to skip it. If you connect one, an encrypted copy of your recovery phrase is stored on creds.id (see Privacy & Security). On iPhone, a recovery copy goes to your iCloud Keychain either way.
  4. Add Links. Choose Import from Linktree, Add Them Yourself, or Start Empty. When you finish this step, the app signs your page, publishes it, and registers your name.
  5. Ready. Get Your First Check → opens the passport flow, where you can create an attestation. Look Around First takes you straight to your page. You can also turn on Tell Me When a Check Lapses.

The app has three tabs:

  • Page: your public page. You edit your profile, links and sections here.
  • Present: shows your card, or your attestations, to someone in person. You can also scan someone else’s code here.
  • Contacts: people you add by scanning their code, by hand, or from your address book. Saved pages stay up to date (see How Visitors Check).

In your browser

You don’t need the app to make a page. At creds.id :

  1. Type the name you want and tap Claim. creds.id checks that the name is free and opens the editor at creds.id/edit.
  2. Add your name, bio, links and sections, and choose an appearance. A live preview shows the result.
  3. Tap Create a new page identity. Your browser generates a recovery phrase. Write it down, then confirm three of its words.
  4. Optionally add a passkey, which keeps a passkey-protected copy of your identity in this browser.
  5. Tap Publish page. Your browser signs the page and publishes it. You get a link and a QR code.
  6. After publishing, tap Claim a short name to register your creds.id/@name.

Your identity is stored in this browser, and creating or unlocking it works only on creds.id. If you clear the site’s data, your recovery phrase is the only way back, so write it down. See Privacy & Security.

Share your page

In the app, tap Share on your page. Share your page offers these links:

LinkLooks like
Username linkhttps://creds.id/@yourname
Published short linkhttps://creds.id/#nostr:npub1…
Full offline linkhttps://creds.id/#…, with your whole signed page inside the link

The app uses your username link when your name is registered, and the published short link otherwise. The full offline link is kept as a fallback. The QR code on this screen opens the selected link. If the full offline link is too long for a QR code, no code is shown for it.
