Passport Attestations

Passport Attestations

An attestation is a claim the app derives from your passport, after reading the passport’s chip with your phone. Attestations are not account checks, and they don’t appear on your public page. You show them to someone in person.

Create an attestation

  1. On the Page tab, tap Add, then Create Attestation under Attestations. The Get Your First Check → button at the end of setup opens the same flow.
  2. Scan the machine-readable lines on your passport’s photo page, or type them in.
  3. Hold your phone against the passport so the app can read its chip over NFC.
  4. The app creates the attestation and saves it on your phone.

Show it in person

On the Present tab, switch to Attestations, pick what to show, and let the other person scan the QR code. The Present screen says it plainly: “Only what you select is presented; everything else stays on this device.”

When you present your passport, the app creates a fresh proof on your phone each time, and Face ID confirms the presentation.
